Hello! Thank you for taking a look at what it looks like to volunteer for our VBS this summer! This year's VBS is going to be a BLAST, but it is impossible to do alone, so we are looking for volunteers! We need volunteers for many different positions, so please read over each description and pray about how God would like to use you! Please make sure you read over all the information below before you register as a volunteer.
General Volunteer Description
- Each VBS day starts at 9 am and ends at 12 pm for the kids, with a special performance happening on Friday night that volunteers need to attend. There will also be a VBS volunteers meeting on June 20th that you are required to attend as well. All the volunteers will be expected to arrive no later than 8:25 each day. This is so you can have time each day to help set up your respective areas or help set up other areas. Depending on your position, you may be required to stay and help clean up about 30 minutes after check-out is completed.
- After you register, you will be provided a form to fill out. You will not be officially registered as a volunteer until this form is filled out.
- In the form, you will request a first and second choice. There is no guarantee that you will be put into one of these areas, as we will assign volunteers to groups based on need.
- By signing up as a volunteer, you are committing to being there from 8:25 am - 12:30 pm from Monday to Friday. If you are unable to be there during this time on any of the days, please explain in the additional information portion of the registration. Schedule conflicts may result in being placed in a volunteer team that is not your first or second choice.
- Volunteers will be background checked in order to ensure safety for the children. There will also be certain safety expectations that will be detailed in the registration form. A failed background check will mean you will not be able to serve for VBS. Failure to uphold safety expectations will result in being asked to no longer serve at VBS.
- A meal will be provided for volunteers during the kids' recreation times. This will be a time for you to rest during the day!
Specific Volunteer Team Descriptions
VBS Group Teacher/Group Assistant
Team Lead: Joseph South
(Depends on Registration, 1 teacher and 1 assistant per group)
These are the volunteers who work closely with the kids! If you love kids, this is the perfect position for you! You will be responsible for leading each group through the assigned activities for the day, maintaining a positive attitude in your interactions with the kids/other volunteers, and creating a culture within your group where kids feel safe, have fun, and build relationships!
VBS Kitchen Staff
Team Lead: Beverly Vander Mel
(5)
Want to help but prefer to be in the background? We have a spot for you! Our VBS Kitchen Staff is responsible for creating snacks for the kids and feeding our volunteers a meal each day!
VBS Drama Team
Team Lead: Carol Fryer
(6)
Expressive? Love to have fun? Creative? Then, this is the team for you! Each day, the VBS Drama Team will perform for the kids, which teaches them important Bible lessons with entertaining and wacky skits! The team will also require commitment to rehearsals ahead of time to practice skits.
VBS Rec Team
Team Lead: Alexa South
(5-7)
Hey middle schoolers and high schoolers! Looking for a way to serve by just playing a bunch of games with kids? Rec Team is the team for you! Each day, you will teach and lead the kids in games outside! The rec team needs to have energy and love to play games!
VBS Check-In/Check-Out Team
Team Lead: Megan Verett
(5-7)
Wanna help but don't have a lot of time? We need some volunteers to help with check-in at the beginning of the day and/or check-out at the end of the day! At the beginning of the day, you will be responsible for making sure kids get their nametags and parents get their pick-up tags. At the end of the day, you will be responsible for kids going to the right parent and making sure parents give you pick-up tags!
VBS Worship Motion Team
Team Lead: TBD
(5-7)
Each day, the kids will be learning a set of worship songs and will be performing them on the final day on Friday! The Worship Motion team needs to be comfortable being in front of kids, have the ability to memorize motions, and have a heart to worship the Lord!
I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO ALL GOD IS GONNA DO! Without people like you, something like this could never be possible!
Looking forward to working with you,
Joseph South (PLC Children's Ministry Director)
